It is about 450 miles, 7 hours windshield time at 65 mph average speed. Can cut an hour off by going 75 mph average, which is totally plausable. Add in a 15 minute gas stop, munch while rolling. You could leave Riverside 6pm Friday, be in Davis a little past midnight. Catch a few Z's 8pm Sunday-1am Monday, make it to work in Riverside by 8am. I could have done it when younger and stupider, not any more. Gas costs would depend on your vehicle's MPG (at 75?) and going rate -- gasoline is again rising. Say 30 mpg and $3 a gallon it would be $45 one-way. You would be hard pressed to find a flight that cheap, and getting to / from airports and through security would make flying more time consuming, and the actual flight wouldn't be long enough to get any decent sleep.
